What kind of work is done?
Per Section 4024.2 of the Penal Code, physical labor will be performed to maintain public facilities, support of nonprofit organizations, and weed and graffiti abatement. Work sites may be located anywhere within the county and are operated in all weather conditions, seven day a week.
What should I wear and/or bring with me?
Clothing must provide protection from normal hazards associated with working outdoors. Long pants and sleeved shirts are mandatory. Work boots, gloves, and hats are strongly recommended. You must provide your own food. Water is provided at each worksite. Orange safety vests are provided to all workers and are worn at all times. If you report for work with inappropriate clothing, you will not be allowed to work, must reschedule the work day.
Is there any light-duty work available?
No, all work is in accordance with Section 4024.2 of the Penal Code. All existing medical conditions and medications must be noted on the application. A Medical Evaluation form may be provided in certain cases which must be completed in full by a medical doctor. Upon receipt of the completed Medical Evaluation form, a review for suitability to participate in the program will be determined.
