Launched in 2023, the Ventura County Probation Agency’s Research and Evaluation Division is designed to conduct applied research that informs data-driven decisions on policy, practices, and programming. This currently comprises three principal areas of focus. First, primary responsibilities include conducting evaluations of the Agency’s programs, services, and assessment tools. Second, another critical responsibility involves facilitating the collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance measures that serve as the backbone of the Agency’s Strategic Plan. Third, other responsibilities include providing research support for grants and government reports as well as coordinating with external research consultants. The Research and Evaluation Division fulfills these roles by using diverse data gathering approaches, sophisticated statistical methodologies, and advanced data visualization techniques.
